Log into that profile once then logout and log back into the domain profile you want. We may face situation where user prefer to keep their old pc profile.
Then unjoin the domain and join the new domain then copy the new local profile to the new domain profile. On windows xp you can copy the domain profile to a local profile. It s a big change if they get a whole new profile. Your organization decided to create new domain or merge users with other organization and thus users need to be join to another domain their pc profile changed.
Here s the steps first create a new local profile with administrator privileges. The next screen will give you a list of current user profiles to find the old domain profile you need to check the show unassigned profiles box. Kjc jax click ok and select permitted to use. Open up your old user profile old user a in documents and settings resize the window so it takes up half your screen then open up your new profile on the new domain user a so it takes up the other half of the screen drag your my documents desktop.
You might find the name to the left is not very helpful but you should be able to find the profle you want from the path name to the right. And favorites from the old user a to the new profile user a overwriting the existing folders under that profile. Restart the computer this does not remove the old domain profile log them in under their domain account then log off. I don t seem to find an elegant way of doing this without copying the entire documents and settings old user to documents and settings new user.
